A History of Greens Norton

The following writings and dates are a compilation of works by many writers and historians from down the ages. We do not presume to have written the following, simply rearranging information into, what is hoped to be, reasonably easy reading.

A great debt is due to both Jack Clamp and Ken Nicoll for providing most of the information, and doing the research, but also my thanks go to everyone in the village who has added items from their memory so that the history of the village has life and a vivacity all of its own.

To assist the reader's understanding of some obscure language, a Glossary is included (e.g. what on earth is a virgate, or a carucate?)
