Greens Norton Community Centre

Greens Norton Community Centre was opened in November 2006, and has therefore been fully operational for two-and-a-half years. The first stage of building – the Main Hall and Committee Room plus the well-equipped kitchen are complete and well-used.

The second stage - a coffee bar, sports facilities and changing rooms etc – have been designed and have received full planning approval, but in the existing financial climate, the implementation of this phase has been put on hold for the time being.

The Centre was rebuilt from the AIMS offices by the existing committee, but it is now felt, that having converted the building and provided the Centre as a going concern, the management committee should also comprise representatives from users and user groups.

The Committee have therefore decided to encourage a wider membership of the committee from the village in general.

All committee members will be asked if they would be prepared to take responsibility for one or other of the various tasks but anyone else who feels they would like to help would be welcome.

If you could devote a few hours a month to managing or assisting in any of these projects, or with the running of the Centre, the Committee would be most appreciative and happy to explain what is required in more detail.

There are several projects in hand to improve the administration and facilities of the Centre:

  • An integrated access control system for regular user

  • Access via a website to booking forms and the existing booking schedule

  • Integration of booking with invoicing and credit control

  • Regular maintenance scheduling

  • Risk Assessment & H&S systems

  • Provision of a sound system

  • Provision of screens to make the main hall space more flexible

  • Conversion of the rear buildings into closed storage
